VAPA

CCS is proud to announce the expansion of our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program to include a wider breadth of opportunities catering to K-12 students.

Starting in September dance courses - including ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop - will be available to all K-12 students. Classes are available both to CCS and non-CCS enrolled students after school five days a week and are located conveniently on our own campus.

In addition, a filmmaking course will launch soon, teaching students of all ages the skills of videography, editing, and showcasing their creations at a CCS Film Festival. Finally, our official K-8 Theater Program will embark on its second annual Spring Musical.

Early Education

Arts & Crafts

Arts and crafts are an important element of our Early Education Center, and an essential part of the development and growth of a child. From coloring to painting, drawing to Christmas projects, children have the opportunity to express themselves throughout the year in a variety of visual artistic methods.

Children are given the opportunity to experiment, discover, imagine and express their original ideas in a free and open environment where the individual and their personal contributions are cherished. Teachers encourage creativity in their classrooms, and the skills that are developed are a key part of establishing the learning process in young minds. Artwork from children is generously displayed in classrooms to encourage students and to share work and ideas.

Drama & Music

Music and movement fill the classrooms at Capital Christian Early Education Center. Teachers design activities and learning units which are enhanced by music and song. Children learn as they sing familiar and creative songs. They have the opportunity to worship God during weekly chapels and through singing and acting out Bible stories as part of their daily learning program. Musical productions are presented throughout the year, offering parents the chance to see their child display their gifts, creativity and personality.

Art

The Bible teaches that each one of us is made in the image of God, our Creator (Genesis 1:27). Therefore, we all are capable of creating and being artists. It is our desire that each child use his or her God-given talent to worship the Lord. Students in grades K-5 enjoy formal art education within their classrooms. Students analyze, assess and derive meaning from works of art, including their own, according to the elements of art, the principles of design, and art history and appreciation.

Band

The Elementary Band Program is designed to introduce students to the world of instrumental musical performance. Beginning in the 3rd grade, students have the opportunity to explore their God-given musical talents via woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments.

Music Education

The elementary music education program at Capital Christian School is based upon Psalm 8:2, “From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise.”

As the children use their voices to praise the Lord, their hearts and lives are strengthened in Him. Music classes strive to incorporate many facets of the fine arts into our music education program. In addition to foundational teaching in music instruction, Christmas and spring programs are presented. These integrate artistic expressions such as choir, drama and choreography. They highlight the talents of our students, and more importantly, seek to showcase the glory of God as the students use their gifts to honor Him.
